Christmas DecoratingPosted: December 12, 2013
There’s been no denying it for some time now – xmas time is here! This meant that we got to pull out our holiday boxes from high up in the closet and finally let them see the light. We try to decorate our home for Christmas with a mixture of fun and fanciness. Mickey mouse ornaments in our tree add the fun and keeping the theme cohesive (red and gold everywhere) keeps it sophisticated and classic. We switched out our fall table set up with a few simple changes. I absolutely love the red tiles on our kitchen table, but truth was the color scheme was just not going to fit the bill; so we picked up a pretty red table cloth and then used items in our home to make it xmas worthy.
We took our decorative candle holders and switched out the candle-sticks with golden ones, folded red and white napkins to make them stand and complement the table cloth, and added a brass reindeer we found at Marshall’s to give it the ultimate holiday touch.
Last year (our first Christmas living together) we could not find regular sized stockings that we were happy with so we opted for these smaller ones instead. We liked both versions of the mini stockings so decided to get both! After-all with our two cats there are four of us in our home. They’ll get a special treat in their center stockings.
When we first purchased this wreath last year it was pretty plain. There are all sorts of decorative wreaths out there but I wanted to add my own touches. I added a few fake pine-cones, poinsettias, a round golden ornament and some ribbon to make a large bow to make the wreath extra festive. It also helps that we have a red door (all home doors should be red in my opinion).
Merry Christmas decorating!
